Lynchburg is a participant in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority (BRRJA). I have requested that the City Manager provide the council with an overview of our policies and those of the BRRJA, to assess what actions, if any, we need to undertake as a council to safeguard our community from the surge in violent crimes associated with illegal immigration that has been proliferating nationwide due to the implications of open border policies.

Next year, the Trump administration will be going right to work to remove criminal illegal immigrants from our nation, and communities. It’s important that we support the President’s efforts to secure our borders and protect our communities.

Governor Youngkin proposed cutting state funding for localities that support sanctuary policies. We need to make sure Lynchburg and our regional partners are compliant with federal law.
